Routes, access notes and drive times to our Kedron depot
The EZ Trans depot is at 2/21 Castle Street, Kedron QLD 4031, a short turn off Gympie Road in Brisbane’s inner north. It is roughly 7 kilometres from the CBD, 12 kilometres from Brisbane Airport and 25 kilometres from the Port of Brisbane. Call 0452 476 748 before arrival.

Castle Street runs off Gympie Road, the main north-south road through Kedron, which is what most navigation apps will route you to. Set your destination to the street address rather than the suburb, because Kedron covers a fair area and the industrial end is not where a suburb pin will drop you.

Open the address in Google Maps or in Apple Maps to start navigation from wherever you are. Both will route you via Gympie Road.
Roughly 7 kilometres, about 12 to 15 minutes outside peak. Leave the CBD heading north, pick up Lutwyche Road through Bowen Hills and Windsor, and stay on it as it becomes Gympie Road at Lutwyche. Continue north past the Lutwyche shopping precinct and turn into Castle Street. The Inner City Bypass is the faster option if you are starting from the western side of the CBD, joining Lutwyche Road at Bowen Hills.
Plan for delay on Lutwyche Road in the afternoon peak. It is a single corridor carrying most of the northbound traffic out of the city, and between about 4pm and 6pm the run can take twice as long as the map suggests. An early morning arrival is a much easier drive than a late afternoon one.
Roughly 12 kilometres, about 15 to 18 minutes. Leave the airport precinct on the East-West Arterial, then take the Gympie Arterial Road toward Kedron and Chermside, and come off onto Gympie Road for the short run to Castle Street. This is the most direct line from either terminal and from the freight precinct.
Note the toll. The Airport Link tunnel section of this route is tolled, and for a heavy vehicle the charge is materially higher than for a car. The toll-free alternative is to leave the airport on Airport Drive, run down Sandgate Road through Nundah and Toombul, then join Gympie Road at Kedron. It adds roughly 5 to 10 minutes outside peak and considerably more during it. If your job is air freight work out of Eagle Farm and the TradeCoast precinct, that alternative is often the better call on a repeat run.
Roughly 25 kilometres, about 25 to 30 minutes. From the Fisherman Islands terminals, head out on Port Drive, pick up Lytton Road, then join the Gateway Motorway northbound. Leave the Gateway at the East-West Arterial, continue onto the Gympie Arterial, and come off at Gympie Road for Castle Street.
Two things to plan for. The Gateway Motorway is tolled, and heavy-vehicle lane and access conditions apply on parts of the Port road network, so check current conditions on QLDTraffic before a first run. Container work in and out of this precinct is covered on the Hemmant and Lytton page.
Roughly 22 kilometres, about 25 to 30 minutes outside peak. From the market complex on Sherwood Road, head out to the Ipswich Motorway or Oxley Road, run in toward the city, pick up the Inner City Bypass, then Lutwyche Road and Gympie Road north to Castle Street.
Before 6am this run is noticeably quicker, often around 8 minutes faster than the same trip at 8am, because neither the Ipswich Motorway nor the bypass has loaded up yet. Roughly 85 kilometres, about 60 to 75 minutes depending where on the Coast you start. Run north on the M1, stay on it through Logan, then take the Gateway Motorway rather than continuing into the city. Leave the Gateway at the East-West Arterial, join the Gympie Arterial, then Gympie Road to Castle Street.
The M1 northbound between about 6am and 9am is the constraint on this trip, not the distance. A load leaving the Coast at 5am and one leaving at 7am can arrive nearly an hour apart. Regular runs on this corridor are covered on the Gold Coast page.
Roughly 100 kilometres, about 75 to 90 minutes. Head south on the Bruce Highway, continue past Caboolture and Burpengary, then take the Gympie Arterial Road as the highway feeds into the northern suburbs and come off at Gympie Road for Castle Street.
The southbound Bruce Highway is generally kinder than the M1, but roadworks between Caboolture and Bald Hills have been a recurring feature of this corridor, so it is worth a look at conditions before an early start. Castle Street is a local street in an inner-north pocket, not a purpose-built freight road, so the approach matters more here than it would in an outer industrial estate. The practical rule is to call 0452 476 748 when you are ten minutes out. We will tell you which approach to take, where to stop, and whether the bay is clear, which is faster and safer than working it out at the kerb with a running reefer.
If you need specific dimensions, dock configuration or equipment confirmed for a repeat run or a large vehicle, ask us directly and we will give you the current detail rather than a general answer. Access arrangements at a working depot change, and a number published on a web page is the wrong place to get that from.
A handover is where a cold chain most often breaks, because it is the one point where the freight is out of a controlled space and in two parties’ hands at once. The practice we work to is simple: keep door-open time short, move the freight directly between controlled spaces rather than staging it on an open dock, and record the temperature at the point of transfer rather than reconstructing it later.
Under the Food Standards Code, potentially hazardous food has to be kept at 5C or colder, or 60C or hotter, and those limits apply during receipt and storage as well as transport. The Australian Food and Grocery Council’s Australian Cold Chain Guidelines set out the same principle across the whole chain from producer to consumer. If your freight is coming in for refrigerated, ambient or dry storage rather than going straight out again, tell us the holding temperature when you book so the space is ready when you arrive.
For medicines, vaccines and pathology freight the band is narrower and the paperwork matters more. Vaccines, for example, are held in a cold chain of +2C to +8C under the National Vaccine Storage Guidelines. Healthcare freight is handled through our medical and pharmaceutical deliveries service, and the handling requirements are agreed before the job rather than at the dock.
Kedron sits between Lutwyche and Chermside on the Gympie Road corridor, with Stafford to the west and Wooloowin to the east. Kedron Brook runs through the suburb and is the landmark most locals navigate by. The Lutwyche Road retail strip is a few minutes south, Padua College and the Kedron-Wavell Services Club are both nearby, and the Westfield Chermside centre is a short run further north. If a navigation app has put you near the Kedron Brook crossing on Gympie Road, you are close.
Without a vehicle, frequent bus services run along Gympie Road and stop within walking distance of Castle Street. The nearest railway stations are Wooloowin and Windsor, both roughly a 20 to 30 minute walk or a short bus connection away. Leave the airport on Airport Drive, run south on Sandgate Road through Nundah and Toombul, then join Gympie Road at Kedron. That avoids the tolled Airport Link tunnel section. It adds roughly 5 to 10 minutes outside peak, and noticeably more during the morning and afternoon peaks.
